“She used her long thick hair to project a powerful femininity and innocent sensuality; it was a beautiful and unusual piece.” – Dance View Times, March 1, 2014, Mary Cargill

Founded by Caitlin Trainor in 2011, Trainor Dance focuses on interdisciplinary work and uses movement as a playground for ideas that provoke, inspire, and enlighten. The company is known for a highly physical, intelligent, and imaginative style that incorporates visual art, text, music, and film to connect dancers with audience and awaken the viewers’ senses. Trainor Dance envisions a world in which dance is not limited to the cultural elite, but shared by vibrant and diverse communities of art lovers. With a relentless commitment to artistic integrity, they aim to inspire and cultivate arts audiences through exposure, education, and ongoing relationships. The company has performed at TEDx, Columbia University, New York, NY; The Yard, Martha’s Vineyard, MA; and Jacob’s Pillow, Becket, MA. Their works include site-specific work in a stairwell at Barnard College, a piece in which the audience drenches the dancer in color using jumbo paint loaded squirt guns; Artificial IntelliDance presented at the World Science Festival; and Sound It Out, an interactive performance determined by audience shout outs.
