“Uncompromising and unreserved…rhythmic, raucous, brutal, intense, and sensuously gestural.” – The Examiner, 2015, Seth Gilman
The Rhythm Method, founded in 2014, is a NYC-based quartet that strives to reimagine the string quartet in a contemporary context. The Rhythm Method has performed in New York, Vienna, Paris, and Lucerne, and tackled works ranging from classics by Haydn, Schubert, Berg, and Ligeti, to newer works/premieres by Alyssa Weinberg, Andrew Norman, Leah Asher, Scott Wollschleger, Caroline Shaw, John Zorn, and other living composers. All of the members of the quartet are composers in their own right, and regularly compose for the group. As a group of female composer/performers, the ensemble often engages with feminism in their programming.
