The Dessoff Choirs is a New York-based independent chorus pioneering performances of choral works from the Renaissance through the 21st century. Founded in 1924, their concerts, professional collaborations, community outreach, and educational initiatives are dedicated to stimulating public appreciation of choral music as an art form that enhances the culture of our times. Their works include We Remember directed by Malcolm J. Merriweather; Take Him Earth with Steven Stucky; In Honor of Martin; Requiem at Alice with Franz Beyer’s re-orchestration; Welcome Yule; A Messiah Sing; Bach, Buxtehude and Barber; and The New Amorous World. The latter performances present the diverse contemporary music from Haiti, the Middle East, and Far East through a partnership with the Chamber Choir from the United Nations International High School and musicians from Haiti.
