Current feature projects for The TENTH INTERVENTION ensemble include Balance Point Sessions, a workshop for dancers and musicians to improvise based on a shared concept or goal and create an original work after two meetings. Recent curated concerts have included Subversion, a chamber music program of works inspired by conflicts, politics, and war, “Dust in the Bottomland: Appalachia is now!” an evening of contemporary classical music centered around an original two-person music-drama written by Nate May that paints a complex and moving portrait of modern Appalachia. Also on the program is a string quartet by Scott Robbins that was selected from a Call for Scores by TENTH INTERVENTION of a recent work by an Appalachian Composer. Additional projects include BACH! and Forward…, selections from the Bach Sonatas and Partitas performed on amplified baroque and modern violin, combined with piano improvisations and live video projections, and the subject of this proposal, “I am nothing without you”.
