SoukJin Park was born in Korea in 1983, and went to the Hong-ik University. After receiving her B.F.A. in 2005, she came to the US to attend The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. She subsequently graduated from Cranbrook Academy of Art with an M.F.A. in Fibers in 2009 and later moved to New York to experience the bigger world of art. She was selected as Best of Show in the Contemporary & Modern Art Juried Exhibition at the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles, by Linda Komaroff, curator at LACMA. She has been included in several group shows in Michigan, Los Angeles and Chicago including The Annual Chair Show, Forum Gallery, Cranbrook Academy of Art (2009), Insert the Colors, Lower Gallery, Cranbrook High School (2009), and Installation Project, The Project Space Gallery 2, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2007). She was awarded the Gold and Merit Awards in fine art from the Creative Quarterly Magazine received scholarships from the ox-Bow Residency Program and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts.
During her Swing Space residency SoukJin will be making wearable pink ribbon decorated suits for thirty adults and staging photo shoots with models. The suits will allow the wearers to look back to their childhoods and long for a pure mind.
