Sarah Nicholls is a Brooklyn-based visual artist who works with found language and metal type, combining image, visual narrative, and time. Her solo exhibitions include Phosphorescent Face Highlighter, Fountain Gallery, Brooklyn, NY (2010). Group exhibitions include Open, The Cracker Factory, Geneva, NY (2011); Multiple, Limited, Unique, The Center for Book Arts, New York, NY (2011); and Pulling From History: Letterpress, The Print Center, Philadelphia, PA (2010). Nicholls was the visiting artist at the Paper Fox Printmaking Workshop (2012). Publications include Central Booking Magazine (2012). Nicholls received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College. During her time on Governors Island, Nicholls will develop a free informational pamphlet on the history of Governors Island, and possibly other related printed ephemera, as part of her continued investigation into the social role of publishing.
