Sarada Rauch is a New York City-based artist from Los Angeles. She reinterprets traditional narratives using contemporary aesthetics by animating her sculpture and paintings with video. Rauch’s group exhibitions include Flat Out, AC Institute, New York City (2012); Optic Nerve XII, De La Cruz Collection, Miami and MoCA, North Miami (2011); and Little Prizinn, Brooklyn Lyceum, New York City (2011).
Rauch has been awarded residencies by The Center for Book Arts (2012) ; Denkmal Schmiede Hoefgen (2005) and received the Tony Smith Fund Award (2009). Publications include Beached Miami and Art News. Rauch received her M.F.A. from Hunter College and her B.F.A. from San Francisco Art Institute.
During her Swing Space residency at Governors Island, Rauch will shoot still and moving footage of her sculptures interacting with the island, recording audio as well, and editing it together into a video.
