Rick Caruso was born in New England and currently splits his time between Providence, RI and Brooklyn. He attended Hampshire College and the San Francisco Art Institute where he received his BFA in Painting. Often working with cut paper, ink and oil, his work plays with the formal geometry and ornamentation found on ledger paper, receipts and in architectural design. His work was recently included in the exhibition Underwater New York at Proteus Gowanus in Brooklyn.

During his Swing Space residency on Governors Island, Rick is working with cut paper and oil paints on panels, exploring relationships between abstraction and design, referencing existing structures from paper artifacts and photographed spaces.
