The Queer Urban Orchestra, conducted with verve by Nolan Dresden, performs Stravinsky’s score live. Have you ever heard “Firebird” in a church? It’s glorious” – The New York Times, May 17, 2013, Gia Kourlas

The Queer Urban Orchestra (QUO), founded in 2009, is a community orchestra comprised of amateur players of varying abilities, college students, and aspiring professional musicians. QUO strives to provide a safe and open space for members of the LGBTQ community to express themselves musically, while also celebrating the incredible contributions LGBTQ musicians and composers have made to the world of classical music throughout history. QUO’s membership is open to all adult musicians regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity. QUO presents three to four full orchestra concerts per season with the inclusion of at least one LGBTQ composer in each concert. QUO also presents two chamber music concerts, QUOtets, which give members a chance to put together their own chamber ensembles and perform in a more intimate setting.
