Patte Loper is a Brooklyn-based artist from Denver, Colorado. She is a painter who experiments with sculpture and video. Loper’s solo exhibitions include Still Point of the Returning World, Platform Gallery, Seattle (2011); The Sky is Burning, the Sea Aflame, Lyons Weir Gallery, New York City (2010); and Empire, The Flat- Massimo Carasi, Milan (2009). Her group exhibitions include Permanent Collection, Nancy Margolis Gallery, NY (2012); Forms in Flux, Grossman Gallery, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (2012); and The Secret Language of Animals, Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma (2011).

Loper has been awarded residencies by The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (2011) and Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship Artist Trust (2002). Publications include The Stranger, Flash Art, The Seattle Times, Time Out Chicago, and The Boston Globe. Loper received her M.F.A. in Painting from San Franscisco Arts Institute and her B.S. in Graphic Design from Florida State University.

During her Swing Space residency at Governors Island, Loper will complete sculptures using detritus and small objects collected on Governors Island and to make paintings in response to the sculptures.
