Pamela Lawton is a New York City-based artist born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Her single and multi-panel paintings and drawings have reflected the vertiginous views of the World Trade Center, the cacophony of Times Square, and the rhythms of the Indian Ocean. Her exhibitions include a performance and presentation of her artwork in conjunction with poem “Sweet Poem” by poet Anne Waldman, Metropolitan Museum of Art (2014); Curved Reality, Citigroup Center (2011); and Liquid City, Conde Nast Building (2009).
Lawton’s numerous residencies include Studio Residency, Chashama, New York, NY (2008-present); a self-made residency, Millennium Hilton Hotel, New York, NY (2004 and 2010); and Swing Space, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, New York, NY (2004-2005). She earned her M.F.A. from Scuola Lorenzo de Medici and City College of New York and her B.A. from Bennington College.
