Nancy Bruning/Nancercize (b. 1948) is New York-based multidisciplinary artist born in Brooklyn, NY. Her practice combines art, fitness, and nature by expanding the definition of health and exercise through outdoor movement and drawing classes. She has authored, co-authored and edited over 20 books, including Hard Core Crafts, Ballantine Books (1976); The Family Creative Workshop (24 volumes), Time Life publishers (1974-1976); East Quilts West, The Quilt Digest Press (1989); and 101 Things to Do on a Park Bench, New Moves Publishing (2012). She is also the creator and producer of Nancercize: 101 Things to Do on a Park Bench (2010; Fort Tryon Park Trust, New York, NY).

Bruning has received grants to design and teach outdoor fitness classes from the Fort Tryon Park Trust, New York, NY (2003-present), the Partnership for a Healthier New York City (2014), and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (2006). She also received grants to design fitness maps from the Fort Tryon Park Trust (2010) and the Partnership for a Healthier New York City (2014). Bruning received a B.A. from Pratt Institute and an M.P.H. from Hunter College, CUNY.
