“Some of the symbolism, like the Ferguson-inspired hands-up gesture, was consciously choreographed, but the action felt largely spontaneous, responding to the whims of the water pressure and Scott’s evolving reactions to being hosed.” “Dread Scott Enacts the Images of Oppression” – Hyperallergic, October 8, 2014, Hrag Vartanian

More Art is a New York-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the realization of socially engaged public art projects. Since its inception in 2004, More Art has strived to reduce the gap existing between new and longtime underserved residents in Chelsea and other gentrified neighborhoods by asking both established and emerging artists to create temporary public art projects that directly involve community members. Its project, Abraham Lincoln: War Veteran Projection has been nominated by a 2013 AICA (International Art Critics Association) Award for Best Project in a Public Space.
