Miguel Gutierrez (b.1971) is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist who was born in Queens, NY. His central practice is dance but Gutierrez also writes poems, songs and music. His performances include DEEP AEROBICS, Wintry Mix, Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr, PA (2015); Age & Beauty Part 2, American Realness, Abrons Arts Center, New York, NY (2015); and Age & Beauty Part 1, American Realness, Gibney Dance, New York, NY (2015). His upcoming performances include The Series, Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, Bard College, Hudson, NY (September 10-13, 2015). His residencies include Swing Space, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (2012); Process Space, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (2011), and Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC), Tallahassee, FL (2006, 2011, 2012 and 2014). He has received grants from USArtists International, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, (2012, 2013, 2014); Bossak Heilbron Charitable Foundation (2011); Rockefeller MAP Grant (2006, 2008, 2011, 2014); and Jerome Foundation (2006, 2008, 2011). Gutierrez has studied at Brown University (1989-1990, 1991-1992); New York University/Tisch School of the Arts (1992-1993); and the Feldenkrais Professional Training Program (2015).
