Melanie McLain is a Queens-based multidisciplinary artist who was born in Tallahassee, FL. She creates installations and performances, which combine sculpture, video, architecture, and acrobatics. Her group exhibitions include EAF15, Socrates Sculpture Park, NY (2015); A Narrow Hollow Volume, Practice Gallery, Philadelphia, PA (2014), and Feeling Tone, Bed Fellows Club, Oakland, CA (2014). McLain is a recipient of the Visual Arts Fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, VA (2012) and the Emerging Artist Fellowship residency at Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens, NY (2015). She is a performer and co-choreographer in Dave Paris’s Acro Project. McLain holds a B.F.A. and B.S. from the University of Florida, and an M.F.A from Virginia Commonwealth University.
