Luke Haynes works in fabric to engage a textural and utilitarian dialogue with users and viewers. His works have been shown widely across the US and have often gained themes from the exhibition venues resulting in a high degree of Americana and cultural iconography. He has a background in architecture, which informs his work with a spatial and functional aesthetic. He studied architecture at Cooper Union and art at North Carolina School of the Arts. Luke grew up in southeast US and is currently living in Seattle, WA.
Haynes will be working on making fabric portraits and textile works. He will make work from the discards of the City and about his contemporary discourse and learning. Haynes will be constructing quilts to finish his series The American Context.
