Lucas Blalock (b. 1978) is a New York-based artist born in Asheville, NC. Blalock’s work explores falseness through evident mechanics in photography. His solo exhibitions include xyz, Ramiken, New York, NY (2011) and Inside the White Cube, White Cube, London (2013). Blalock’s ground exhibitions include Lens Drawings, curated by Jens Hoffmann, Marian Goodman Gallery, Paris, France (2013); New Pictures of Common Objects, curated by Christopher Lew, MoMA PS1, Queens, NY (2012); and Coquilles Mechaniques, Crac Alsace, Altkirch, France (2012).
Blalock’s awards include Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, Maine (2011). His publications include Frieze (2013), Aperture (2012), and Art In America (2012). Blalock received his B.A. from Bard College (2002) and an M.F.A. from UCLA (2013).
