Lisa Fairstein, a New York-based artist, creates her constructions by mixing a complicated embrace of seductive images with an engagement in the process of making pictures, to consider constructs of reality and fantasy in a culture obsessed with the image of an image.  Her group exhibitions include Welcome to the Real, {TEMP} Art Space, New York, NY (2013); White Boys, Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery, Haverford, PA (2013); and Conscious Things, Picture Space, Brooklyn, NY (2012).  Fairstein received her B.A. from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study and an M.F.A. in Photography, Video and Related Media from The School of Visual Arts.  During her residency, Fairstein will more deeply explore her approach to image-making, creating unsettling, and believable un/realities.
