Laura Peterson Choreography is a New York City based dance company creating highly physical and detailed dances with integrated set design environments.
The company has had residencies, commissions and performances throughout the US, Europe and South America. Peterson is currently a member of the HERE Artist-in-Residence Program (HARP) in NYC for the development of her series Wooden, which will premiere at HERE in November 2011. Various residencies have included the Queens Museum of Art, Dance New Amsterdam, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Sitelines 2010 and Swing Space and two Mondo Cane! commissions at Dixon Place. Her dances have been presented in New York at venues including Dance New Amsterdam, Symphony Space, Dance Theater Workshop, PS 122, Danspace Project’s Draftworks and others. Her work has been performed at festivals including Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Inside/Out, Philadelphia’s NEW Festival, Goose Route Dance Festival and The International Contemporary Dance Festival in Bytom, Poland. Laura has been commissioned by Pennsylvania Ballet, Hartford Ballet, DROP Dance in Boise, ID and has made dances for NYU’s Tisch School and Lehman College.
During the month of May, the company will be working intensively on Wooden, a series of dances inspired by natural architecture and outdoor installation art. Wooden is a long-term project that will premiere in its entirety this November at HERE Arts Center.
