“Lerner’s lively pulsing music is winning and delighting as it crosses genres effortlessly – played by a six-piece band that Lerner heads off stage.” – Florida Theater on Stage, January 18, 2016, Bill Hirschman.
Lantern Community Services has championed the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who are impacted by or threatened with homelessness. Their arts program covers diverse mediums, including dance, visual arts, creative writing, photography, and fashion design. Through the arts, Lantern creates pathways for formerly homeless people to enter or return to creative employment, and provides opportunities for therapeutic self-expression, stress management, and socialization. Eryc Taylor Dance advances education and appreciation of dance by creating and presenting original performances, conducting master classes and workshops, and making grants to aspiring choreographers. ETD’s choreography seeks to find, explore and execute new points of view and combine varied styles of dance on and off pointe. The works display a fierce desire to attain a bold physicality that strips away the movement to its essential core, and has a strength, energy and drama that carry its own. Through collaborations with digital artists and unique composers, ETD fuses technology and classical compositions through mapping and light projections. Lantern Community Services and the Eryc Taylor Dance Company’s collaborations include Mobilize.
