Judith Hugentobler (b. 1957) is a Brooklyn-based sculptor born in Staten Island, NY. Hugentobler works with clay and mixed media to build naturalistic forms often using alternative firing processes. Her group exhibitions include Urban Narratives, SIABC Gallery, Staten Island, NY (2015); Divining Line, Sweet Lorraine Gallery, Brooklyn, NY (2015); ReCycle, Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, Brooklyn, NY (2015); Ecology: The Difference Perception Makes, Westbeth Gallery, New York, NY (2015); and Burnt Offerings, Greene County Arts Council Gallery, New York, NY (2014). Her residencies and fellowships include the Art Complex Museum Ceramic Residency, Duxbury, MA (2006), Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts Summer Residency, Newcastle, ME (2005), Woman’s Studio Workshop Ceramic Fellowship, Rosendale, NY (2004); and SPARC residency, New York, NY (2010). She is a recipient of a Pollack Krasner Foundation grant (2013). She received a B.F.A. in Sculpture from the University of IL Champaign, an M.F.A. in Sculpture from SUNY at Albany, and a Color Specialist Certificate from the Fashion Institute of Technology (2012).
