John Haskell is a Brooklyn-based writer born in San Diego, CA. Haskell is currently working on ideas relating to identity and the meaning of the self. Published books include I Am Not Jackson Pollock, FSG (2003); Out of My Skin, FSG (2009); and American Purgatorio, FSG (2005). Other publications include “Extinctions,” Lucky Peach (2012); “Joy,” A Public Space (2011); and “Untitled,” David Salle Catalog-Mary Boone Gallery (2011).
Haskell’s awards include New York Foundation for the Arts (2010), a Guggenheim Fellowship (2009), and a Cititella Ranieri Foundation Residency (2009). He received his B.A. from University of California at Santa Cruz and an M.F.A. from Columbia University.
