Jim SKULDT is a Los Angeles-based artist who is interested in urgent constructions (e.g. DIY or survival strategies) and in the modes in which these physicalities are mediated as non-physical realities simultaneously. His solo exhibitions include ISLAND EFFECTS, Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena, CA (2013) and CROP CIRCLE (Int’l), CAKE PLUG, LTD Gallery Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA (2011). His group exhibition include Endless Bummer: Still Bumminʼ (curated J Tumlir D Heitzler), Marlborough Gallery, New York, NY (2013); California Biennial 2008, Orange County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA (2008); and Enlarge Your Practice (curated JM Colard, C Moulene, and M Villeneuve), Friche la Belle de Mai, Marseille, France (2007). His grants include the Harpo Foundation Grant (2013-2015) and the Creative Capital Grant (Muriel Pollia Foundation Awardee) (2012). He was an artist-in-residence at Rauschenberg Foundation, Captiva, FL (2014); the Center for the Art of Performance UCLA, Los Angeles, CA (2014); and Antwerpen Residency, Antwerp, Belgium (2009). He received an M.F.A. from The California Institute of the Arts.
