Irvin Morazan is a Brooklyn-based artist born in San Salvador, El Salvador. Morazan creates fantastical sculptures, performances, photographs and videos that are influenced by ritual, spirituality and the gluttony of our contemporary culture. His solo exhibitions include Temple of the Bearded Man, DCKT Gallery, New York, NY (2011); Jack the Pelican presents, Return of Xipe Totec, Brooklyn, NY (2008) and The Dating Game, El Museo Del Barrio, New York (2011). Morazan’s group exhibitions include S-Files Biennial, El Museo del Barrio, NY (2011); Performance in the center if the world, Times Square, New York, NY (2011); and Salvages, Asya Giesberg Gallery, New York, NY (2011). Morazan’s awards include SOMA Residency in Mexico City (2012), Dedalus Foundation Fellowship (2013), and Art Matters Travel Grant (2012). Morazan received his B.F.A. from School of Visual Arts (2003) and an M.F.A. from Hunter College (2013).
