International Women In Jazz, Inc. (IWJ) was founded in 1996 to address the unmet needs of women in jazz. The organization is committed to supporting and advancing the careers of female jazz artists and to fostering a greater awareness of the diverse, worldwide contributions women make to jazz. Through its various programs, IWJ provides information and assistance to its members, actively ensuring a place for women as a vital part of the past, present, and future of jazz. Recurring programs include the monthly jazz concert, First Mondays at Saint Peters Church; the Youth in Action program (providing mentorship and performance opportunities to young female musicians); and the annual Women In Jazz Festival.
