“From space science to ceramics, Dr. Wee Hong Ling’s journey involved a wee bit of luck and a whole lot of guts.” – A-List, March 7, 2016, Pamela Ho.

Hong-Ling Wee is a ceramicist and installation artist whose work focuses on looking homeward to find extraordinariness in the ordinary. She brings a contemporary freshness to a traditional craft by specializing in one-of-a-kind handmade ceramics that transform everyday utilitarian pottery into aesthetic objects. Her creations straddle sculptural forms and functional art. She believes that engaging the viewer’s tactile and kinesthetic sensibilities will elevate an ordinary experience to the extraordinary. Wee’s installations offer alternative ways of thinking about living spaces, where things serve as sources of inspiration for creative ideas, as objects of contemplation much like antiquities, to spark greater appreciation of art and culture.
