The Voices of Gotham (VoG), under Hell’s Kitchen, NY Chapter of the Society for the Preservation & Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. (SPEBSQSA), is a men’s a cappella chorus with a mission to celebrate the American tradition of barbershop harmony. As a chapter of SPEBSQSA, VoG is a part of a 25,000 member international organization that promotes barbershop as an art form, enriches lives through singing, and provides service to our communities. VoG is ranked by the SPEBSQSA among the top ten barbershop choruses in the world. The chorus includes high school students, current and former college a cappella singers, and professional actors and musicians. VoG’s activities for the public include two annual concerts; regional/international competitions; the Tin Pan Alley Barbershop Quartet Contest; and the Harmony with Heart Initiative, which provides free performances for low-income/underserved community groups. The featured repertoire for the public performances is commissioned from the Arranger’s Lab Program, VoG’s house of resident composers.
