John Heginbotham is a New York-based dancer and choreographer, who founded Dance Heginbotham in 2011. With an emphasis on collaboration, Dance Heginbotham enriches national and international communities through inventive, thoughtful, and rigorous dance theater. Heginbotham’s work embodies a sense of playful mystery, wonder, and imagination. His works and performances include Easy Win, Angels’ Share, and Diamond, Joyce Theater, New York, NY (2015); Easy Win; Vail International Dance Festival, Vail, CO (2015); Chalk and Soot, in collaboration with Brooklyn Rider, Shara Worden, and Gabriel Kahane, Baryshnikov Arts Center/Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, New York, NY (2014); Dark Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn, NY (2013). Dance Heginbotham made its debut at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C. (2012). Heginbotham is the recipient of the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award (2014) and the Jerome Robbins Foundation New Essential Works Fellowship (2010, 2012). He was an artist-in-residence at Banff Centre, Alberta, CA (2016); CUNY Dance Initiative – Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY (2016); CUNY Dance Initiative – Kingsborough College, Brooklyn, NY (2015); Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Beckett, MA, (2015, 2014); Watermill Centre, Water Mill, NY (2013); and the Baryshnikov Arts Center, New York, NY (2011, 2012). Heginbotham received a B.F.A. in Dance from Juilliard.
