The Greenwich Village Orchestra, based in lower Manhattan, aims to enrich the community with exhilarating, educational and affordable symphonic performances. Based at Washington Irving High School (WIHS), one block east of Union Square, our core audience consists primarily of residents from the surrounding neighborhoods, including Union Square, Stuyvesant Town, Murray Hill, and Gramercy Park, as well as the East Village and Greenwich Village. In addition to the members of the community that compromise the orchestra’s audience, the GVO also serves as a practice and performance venue for dedicated aspiring musicians from all over the New York City area.
