“Congratulations to Four Seas Players’ contributions to the world of theater and to the Chinese-American community. And the Company’s 20-year effort to reach out to Chinese-Americans of different generations and to bridge the cultural gap between traditional Chinese and Western art forms.” – Proclamation, September 8, 1990, Ruth W. Messenger, President of the Borough of Manhattan

Four Seas Players is a non-profit organization established to develop, produce and promote Chinese and Western classics and contemporary work. Theatrical works are produced both in their original language and in translations in Cantonese, English, or Mandarin with subtitles. The Four Seas Players supports the development, performance, and publication of works by new Asian playwrights & translators and encourages the work of actors, directors, designers, and photographers needed to produce and record these works. Each year two full-length productions are selected for performance. In addition to performing, the Four Seas Players conducts workshops for aspiring playwrights and directors, and acting classes to encourage individuals to sharpen their craft for stage performances.
