If FIGMENT were a country, it would be the happiest in the world and I would apply for citizenship immediately.” – BBC Travel, July 10, 2012 Brad Cohen

Founded in 2007, FIGMENT is a New York-based non-profit organization with the mission to build community through the participatory arts. They inspire personal and social transformation by creating cultural events and experiences in the spirit of inclusion. FIGMENT’s annual event on Governors Island engages tens of thousands of participants with participatory arts. The event has grown each year, engaging over 20,000 participants with over 200 arts projects in 2015. FIGMENT has expanded its programs on Governors Island to include summer long exhibitions including an artist-designed minigolf course, an interactive sculpture program, and an architectural pavilion – the result of international design competition co-sponsored by FIGMENT. In 2016, FIGMENT had a total of ten events in cities around the United Stated and internationally.
