Ephrat Asherie is a New York-based dancer and choreographer born in Netanya, Israel. Ephrat’s work synthesizes her experiences as part of NYC’s underground dance community with her interests in theater, language and design. Her works include ovaNunda (commissioned), FiraTarrega, Lleida, Spain (2015); Sideshow, Marcus Garvey Park, SummerStage, New York, NY (2015); Step 4.2. and brothers, Doris Duke Theater, Jacob’s Pillow, Becket, MA (2014); For Nina and brothers, The Yard, Chilmark, MA (2014); and A Single Ride, Dixon Place, New York, NY (2012). Her residencies and awards include the New Directions Choreography Lab, Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, New York, NY (2015), Choreographic Residency, CUNY Dance Initiative, New York, NY (2014- 2015), LMCC’s Workspace, New York, NY (2013-2014), Jerome Foundation Travel and Study Grant, Bahia, Brazil (2013), and Fresh Tracks Residency Choreographer, New York Live Arts, New York, NY (2012-2013). Asherie received a B.A. in Italian Language from Barnard College, Columbia University and is an M.F.A. candidate in Choreography and Performance at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
