DMF Youth is a New York-based non-profit providing high quality after-school and summer programing to underserved youth in New York City. Their goal is to empower underserved youth through dance, fitness and life skill development and to help level the playing field for by creating safe, nurturing afterschool and summer camp environments. Highly trained teaching artists not only provide quality arts education, but also nurture, love, and mentor many kids, who need to flourish both in and out of the classroom. Their programs include a summer camp on the Lower East Side (2015); an afterschool program, PS 126 (2015-2016); and an afterschool program at The Prospect Family Inn, a homeless shelter in the Bronx (2016). Through movement exploration, observation, replication, and recall, students developed kinesthetic and self awareness; understood dance concepts; and built fine and large motor skills.
