Courtney Puckett (b. 1979) is an artist born in Winter Park, FL and currently based in Brooklyn and upstate New York. Weaving, wrapping, knotting, braiding, and sewing are involved in her process for creating detailed, painterly surfaces on sculptural forms. These transform the mundane, cast-off bric-a-brac that Puckett collects from her apartment building and neighborhood in Brooklyn. She has participated in group exhibitions at Indianapolis Art Center, Indianapolis, IN (2016); BRICArts, Brooklyn, NY, (2015); Noyes Museum of Art, Hammonton, NJ (2015); and Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY (2011). Puckett is a recipient of the Vermont Studio Center’s full Fellowship Award (2016); the Byrdcliffe Artist Residency (2010); and National Endowment for the Arts Project Grant (2010). Puckett holds a B.F.A from Maryland Institute College of Art and an M.F.A from Hunter College.
