Claudia Weber is a Brooklyn-based artist born in Germany. Weber’s projects challenge preconceived narratives that become attached to everyday spaces, objects and materials while addressing their complex roles as agents of our current economic ideologies. Her exhibitions include Addition to the Preceding, Ines Barrenechea Gallery, Madrid, Spain (2012); Norfolk, Thierry Goldberg, New York, NY (2012); and Lush Life / Chapter 4: Let It Die, Lehmann Maupin Gallery, New York, NY (2011). She was an artist-in-residence at NARS Foundation, Brooklyn, NY (2014); and LMCC’s Workspace New York, NY (2009 – 2010). She has received grants from the Jerome Foundation, Travel and Research Grant, New York, NY (2013); and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Exhibition grant, New York, NY (2012). Weber received a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. from the Academy of Fine and Applied Arts in Germany.
