Christine Wong Yap is a Queens-based visual artist born in California. Her work focuses on creating sculptures, installations, participatory projects, and drawings to spark and sustain attention to emotional experiences. Her solo exhibitions include The Eve Of..,, Falchi Building, Long Island City, NY (2014); Irrational Exuberance, Sight School, Oakland, CA (2010); and Irrational Exuberance (Asst. Colors), Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester, UK (2012). Her group exhibitions include Happiness Is…, Montalvo Arts Center Project Space Gallery, Saratoga, CA (2013); and Here & Now, Invisible Venue/Mills College Art Museum, Oakland, CA (2010). Her residencies include the Tides Institute and Museum of Art, ME (2012); and the Lucas Artists Program Residency, Montalvo Arts Center, CA (2011). Her awards include the Queens Arts Fund, Queens Council on the Arts, NY (2014); and the Travel and Study Grant, Jerome Foundation, MN (2010). Yap received a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. from the California College of the Arts.
