Chamber16 is a roster-based consortium of professional musicians which presents wide-ranging programs using varying instruments and voice. It was founded by pianist Mary Bopp, a New York-based artist born in California. Gretchen Mundinger has been a featured performer with Chamber16, and Susan Stoderl is the composer in residence.
Chamber16’s performances include Got Bach, Got Ghost, St. Peter’s Church, Citicorp Center (2011); and Moving Through, The Song Cycles of Susan Stoderl, CMP Concert Hall (2011). It has been recognized with LMCC’s MCAP Award for Divinely Inspired, Bruno Walter Auditorium, Lincoln Center (2012); Divine Feminine, Saint Peter’s Church, Citicorp Center (2012); and Devilish!!!, Saint Peter’s Church, Citicorp Center (2012).
Bopp, Chamber16’s pianist, received her Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. Mundinger, a vocal performer, received her Master of Music from the Brooklyn Conservatory. Stoderl, Chamber16’s composer and writer, recieved her Master of Music from the Peabody Institute. Chamber16 believes that anyone can be inspired, enlivened and entertained by music of the classical tradition.
