Cerddorion Vocal Ensemble is a New York-based choral ensemble of 26 mixed voices known for its eclectic programming, technical excellence, and interpretive depth. Its mission is to raise the standard of excellence for choral performance; to create community by sharing the beauty and depth of choral music; to collaborate with living composers to ensure the continued vitality of the choral arts; and to provide a musical outlet for highly proficient nonprofessional singers.
Cerddorion explores Western choral literature from early polyphony to world premieres, including commissioned works by Lisa Bielawa, Robert Dennis, David Lang, Elliot Z. Levine, and Paul Moravec. Their performances include Models of Inspiration by J.S. Bach and Orlando di Lassus (2014); and Rise Up, My Love (2015); ¡Viva España! (2016); and Reverent Cadence and Subtle Psalm (2017). Cerddorion nurtures promising new composers through commissions and the annual Emerging Composers Competition.
