Alison Owen (b.1975) is a Brooklyn-based artist born in San Diego, CA. She makes site-responsive installations that alter the environment in subtly invasive ways, calling attention to the underlying materials and activities of everyday life.
She held solo exhibitions in Cuchifritos Gallery, New York, NY (2016), Bethel University, St. Paul, MN (2015), and Smack Mellon, Brooklyn, NY (2011). Owen has presented work at group exhibitions at Lesley Heller Workspace, New York, NY (2016) and deCordova Museum, Lincoln, MA (2011).
Her residencies and awards include the LES Rotating Studio Program at Artists Alliance Inc. New York, NY (2016-2017); Joan Mitchell Foundation Residency, New Orleans, LA (2016); Hambidge Center for Arts and Science Residency, Rabun Gap, GA (2015); and A.I.R. Fellowship, Brooklyn, NY (2016-2017). She received her B.A. from Evergreen State College and an M.F.A. from Claremont Graduate University.
