Enigmatic Moves and Flashes of Drama Against a Towering Cityscape

The New York Times reviews Tere O’Connor’s ‘Untitled’ at Elevated Acre. There’s one more performance today (Wednesday, June 25) at 1:00pm — bring your lunch!

Spatially, it’s perfect for dance: a lawn framed by tall buildings on two sides but with direct sunlight and an opening toward the East River. Aurally, it abounds with city noise — not least that of helicopters. On Monday there was also plenty of just what you would expect: the nonstop conversation of city workers enjoying their lunch breaks. It’s the first time I’ve watched dance while different people near me kept up loud, nonstop conversations about taking on new employees, the irritations of the office and where to go on vacation.
