Since the completion of Eiko & Koma’s Retrospective Project in 2012, Eiko has been exploring various ways to teach and to collaborate with others. In this year’s festival, Eiko experiments to create and present a duet with Japanese dancer Tomoe Aihara. Based in Tokyo, Aihara is a performer and scholar who has studied with Eiko occasionally throughout the past two decades and participated in several of Eiko’s “Delicious Movement” workshops. The two have become friends despite disparities of age and geography.  Two Women is an experimental performance, which focuses on their age difference and explores how two bodies sometimes mirror each other in parts or collide into one.
