On Friday, December 12, 20 artists will open up their studios in the Arts Center at Governors Island. You are invited to spend the afternoon exploring the works they have been developing over the past five months as part of their participation in LMCC’s Process Space residency program.

Since July, 2014 these cross-disciplinary artists (visual, literary, and performing) have been meshing materials, exploring the ways in which video can unravel our conceptions around self-recognition, mapping Algoe, NY, abstracting reality to reveal hidden aspects of data, collaging old western films together, engaging community members from across the country in processional works, delving into the taste different waters have, recasting Homer’s Odyssey in feminist contexts, researching New York’s harbor waters post-Sandy, adapting plays by Rainer Werner Fassbinder for installation, bringing into relief marginalized plant-life in our urban landscapes, asking themselves Montaigne’s eternal question “What do I know”?, coming to terms with getting old and having sex, playing with the politics of ownership and privacy in our age of digital insecurity, and so much more.

Join us and find out more about what they’ve each been up to and what’s in store for them and their projects in the future.
