“Working with a dominating visual eye obsessed with shapes and structures, I sculpt and arrange highly specific pure movement. I work towards abstraction within a form that can never be abstract. The dances that I make consist of a multiplicity of utterances, or ideas, that take their form in movement and structure. These movements and structures are the ideas. I aim to engage with audiences by imparting the sensation of things-as-they-are-perceived, not as they are known, and to challenge how meaning is attributed and constructed. My desire is to produce de-familiarizing aesthetic experiences.” – Netta Yerushalmy
