Choreographer Juliana May invites audiences to see an open rehearsal of her latest project-in-progress that integrates elements of movement, theatre and psychotherapy research in ADULT DOCUMENTARY. In this Open Studios event, five performers share their real and imagined histories through text and movement to look at the form of trauma—or, conversely, the trauma of form.
How does the so-called “aboutness” and shape of a word or gesture disrupt meaning? And, how does the form (i.e. repetition, space and time) rupture or repair these seemingly hermetic relationships? These are questions that May will explore in her latest project-in-progress. Audience members will be allowed to enter and leave the ongoing hour-long rehearsal process, during which choreographer Juliana May and fellow performers will be working on the material. Please note this event may have sensitive content, including nudity and adult language, and is not recommended for young audience members.
