HILDEGARD (VISION) is a surreal, immersive performance installation with elements of opera, found-object puppetry, animation and video, inspired by the life and work of the visionary nun Hildegard of Bingen, a medieval scholar, composer, mystic and polymath.

For their December Open Studio, Pioneers Go East Collective will share excerpts of dreamlike scenes, representative of the group’s investigation into the migraine cycle and its relationship to hallucinations that have been said to form the basis of Hildegard’s artwork, metaphysics, and ability to transcend the cloistered restrictions of monastic life.
