June 28–29 at 3:00pm
at LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island

Co-commissioned by LMCC, Danspace Project, and Performance Space 122

“So seeing this arresting artist at the center of her own piece—especially one as ruthlessly clean and clever as this—comes as a delicious relief.” – Helen Shaw, Time Out New York

Bronx Gothic reveals an impassioned story of coming of age as notes are surreptitiously passed between two school girls at the tender age of 11. Enacted as a solo, Okpokwasili casts a gripping performance that sheds light on harrowing issues of self esteem, body image, and sex amid a susceptible moment in a young girl’s life.
