The Good Life: Installation Sketch #3

by Carlos Motta
200 Hudson Street, 4th Floor

Screenings:
Memory of a Protest
Aug 8 & 9 | 6-8pm

The Good Life is long-term video documentary project (in-progress) composed of interviews with people on the streets of 12 Latin American cities about their perceptions of current and historical US foreign policy in the region and of local forms of democratic governance. The Good Life: Installation Sketch # 3 presents a sketch of the work's installation using the materials filmed in Mexico City, Mexico and Bogota, Colombia.

Memory of a Protest is part documentary, part personal essay, which takes place during a protest held on the streets of Santiago, Chile against the infamous School of The Americas. This work highlights the importance of the school within US foreign policy, emphasizing the training of torture techniques as a fundamental human right violation.

Also on view in the space is a new work in-progress -yet untitled- that recycles and re-presents phrases appropriated from street political graffiti found in Latin American cities.
