The 2009 Workspace Open Studio Weekend was a huge success.

Over 1,500 visitors toured the studios of our 20 artists- and eight writers-in-residence. Residents presented work made in their studios over the past nine months during a packed weekend of events, including a Friday night opening reception, weekend open hours, and a brilliant reading by our writers on Saturday evening.  Changing what it means to 'work' in the Financial District, Workspace serves artists and writers working in all media from painting to video, sculpture to photography, poetry to playwriting in unique spaces generously donated by the downtown real estate community. Visitors included curators from the New Museum, MoMA, P.S. 1, the Warhol Museum, and the Guggenheim Museum among others, as well as directors from other arts organizations and galleries including Asian American Writers’ Workshop, Exit Art, Art in General, White Columns, Deitch Projects, Yancey Richardson Gallery, Andrea Rosen Gallery, and Friedrich Petzel Gallery.
