Visual Artists Writers On-Site Assistant Paolo Javier Paolo Javier is the author of LMFAO (OMG! Press, forthcoming), Goldfish Kisses (Sona Books, 2007), 60 lv bo(e)mbs (O Books, 2005), and the time at the end of this writing (Ahadada, 2004), which received a Small Press Traffic Book of the Year Award. In addition to poetry, Javier writes works for the stage. Two of his short dramas, A Play, A Play, and Ladies and Gentlemen Mr. Bill Murray!, were produced by The Poets Theater in San Francisco. He recently completed Lunatic, a full-length play, which is excerpted in the anthology War & Peace 3 (O Books, 2007), as well as in the online journal EOAGH: Issue 4. His multidisciplinary work includes live collaborations and recordings with electronic artists Guillermo E. Brown and Stefan Tcherepnin, and performance artist Ei Arakawa. With sound artist Brenda Hutchinson, Javier recorded My Public Roses, an EP of mash-up poetry. He has read and performed his work at venues such as The Living Theater, St. Mark’s Poetry Project, Bowery Poetry Club, the Asian American Writer’s Workshop, Dixon Place, Teachers & Writers Collaborative, California College of the Arts, Berkeley Museum, Galapagos Art Space, Yerba Buena Arts Center, La Mama Experimental Theatre, and Performa TV. Javier is presently at work on My Aspiring Villain, a sequel to 60 lv bo(e)mbs, as well as the original brown boy, an illustrated long poem, (featuring artwork by Ernest Concepcion). He also edits the online journal 2nd Ave Poetry (2ndavepoetry.com), and is a recently appointed co-editor of book reviews for Boog City. In the fall of 2008, Javier will serve as a Visiting Associate Professor in Poetry at the University of Miami. He received an MFA from Bard College, and lives in New York.
