Cornejo received an MA and PhD in Fine Arts from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He has received grants, awards and residencies from the Vermont Studio Centre, British Council, The Henry Moore Institute, Tokyo National University Museum of Art, and Japanese Ministry of Education. Solo exhibitions have been held at Gallery Lightcontemporary in London, La Cantuta, Gallery ARTCO and North American Institute Gallery, all in Lima. He has participated in group exhibitions at New Art Birmingham, UK; Gallery Lisi Hammerle, Austria; and Bienal Barro, Venezuela.
